Pair Of Deadly Hit-Runs Under Investigation In Philly

Police in Philadelphia are investigating after two people were killed in hit-and-run car crashes just a few hours apart on Sunday, Jan. 22.

The first crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. in South Philadelphia, 6abc reports. A 44-year-old woman was crossing the 600 block of Oregon Avenue when she was hit by a silver SUV, the outlet said. 

The driver fled east on Oregon Avenue, and the victim was pronounced dead by first responders sometime later, the report says

The second accident occurred at about 8:40 p.m., police said in a statement. A white van, possibly a Ford Econoline, was headed east on Berks Street and struck a man on a bicycle while turning left onto Howard Street, the department continued. 

The driver continued north on Howard Street without stopping, while the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
